At present, there has been a rainfall of 10,000 kg of material per second on Saturn, fast enough to fill an Olympic sized pond in just half an hour. This rain is actually a remnant that was destroyed from Saturn's ring. This ring is dominated by flakes of ice and space rocks, which result from the bombardment of solar UV radiation and small meteorids. When this bombardment occurs, ice particles will evaporate and form electrically charged molecules. This molecule will be affected by Saturn's magnetic field, which then falls and burns in the atmosphere. So, this rain of material falls into Saturn's polar parts which will make the rain more heavy thanks to a very strong magnetic field. In 1986, it was initially estimated that Saturn's ring had around 300 million years left. But with this phenomenon, it is estimated that this iconic ring will only have around 100 million years old before it completely disappears. This is relatively short, compared to the age of Saturn, which has more than 4 billion years of age.
